Please find below just a few of the most common skin procedures Dr. Higgs can provide care for:
Skin Tag Removal:
Skin tags are small, soft, skin-coloured growths that hang off the skin and resemble a wart. They're very common, harmless, and can vary in colour and size. They are usually found on the neck, armpits, around the groin, or under the breasts.
A normal mole is usually evenly colored brown, tan, or dark spot on the skin. It can either be flat or raised, round or oval. Moles occur when pigment cells in the skin grow in a cluster instead of being spread throughout the skin.
'Age Spots' or Seborrhoeic Keratosis Removal:
Age spots are one of the most common non-cancerous skin growth in adults. Age spots usually appear as a brown, black, or light tan growth on the face, chest, shoulders, or back. The growth typically has a waxy, scaly, slightly elevated appearance.
'White Head' (Mila)' & 'Giant Black Head' Extractions:
Mila are small white coloured bumps which are small glands blocked with dead skin and secretion. Often found on cheeks and around eyes.
A giant black head or comedone is skin pore that has been clogged with secretions and skin debris. They can often be quite large.
Keloid Scar Injection:
A keloid, sometimes referred to as a keloid scar, is a tough heaped-up scar that rises quite abruptly above the skin. It usually has a smooth top and a pink or purple color. Keloids are irregularly shaped and may enlarge progressively.
Viral Warts & Molluscum Contagioum Treatment:
A viral wart is a very common growth of the skin caused by the HPV (Human Papillomavirus). Molluscum infections will result in a small, raised, pink-lesions with a dimple in the centre. Some wart treatment is covered by OHIP.
