Dr. Meckamalil received her Doctor of Chiropractic Degree in 2016 from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, after completing her bachelors degree in Kinesiology in 2012 from the University of Regina. She is a certified neurofunctional and medical acupuncture provider with a diploma from McMaster University.
After completing her chiropractic degree, Dr. Meckamalil had the honor of being selected to become a Clinical Sciences Resident, which allowed her to have the unique and rare opportunity to pursue a chiropractic fellowship. During her residency she worked alongside renowned orthopaedic surgeons, rheumatologists and neurologists in various hospitals such as Hamilton General, Mount Sinai and St. Michael’s. The knowledge and experience she gained from these placements allows her to specialize in the correction of biomechanical disorders and restoring proper function to the human body. Dr. Meckamalil focuses on understanding the root cause of your particular complaint and devises a treatment plan that is personalized to you. She understands the importance of having a team of health care providers to co-manage your condition in order to provide the best care possible.
Dr. Meckamalil is a strong proponent of living an active lifestyle. As a devoted runner she knows all too well the importance of treating the body’s ailments. She uses various evidence-based techniques, which include chiropractic mobilizations, adjustments, soft tissue therapy, rehabilitation and acupuncture.
Dr. Meckamalil has a passion for research and education. After completing her thesis in mental health, she had the opportunity to present her study at the annual World Federation of Chiropractic Conference in London, England. She is also the proud recipient of several research awards and grants. Through her research she has learned the importance of understanding how one’s mental health can impact their physical symptoms of pain and discomfort. Alongside her research, she pursues her second passion by teaching various courses at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College such as clinical education and anatomy labs.
When she is not working, teaching or doing her research, you can find her enjoying some long runs with her family and friends or going on hiking adventures.
