During her residency she worked alongside renowned orthopaedic surgeons, rheumatologists and neurologists in various hospitals such as Hamilton General, Mount Sinai and St. Michael’s. The knowledge and experience she gained from these placements allows her to specialize in the correction of biomechanical disorders and restoring proper function to the human body. Dr. Meckamalil focuses on understanding the root cause of your particular complaint and devises a treatment plan that is personalized to you. She uses various evidence-based techniques, which include chiropractic mobilizations, adjustments, soft tissue therapy, rehabilitation and acupuncture.
Dr. Meckamalil also has a keen interest in pelvic floor health. She understands the important role a healthy pelvic floor plays in the quality of life of her patients. She provides external pelvic floor therapy to patients from all ages and genders addressing common issues such as pelvic pain, chronic low back pain, poor posture and changes in bowel and bladder function.
Finally she has a strong passion for research and education. After completing her thesis in mental health, she had the opportunity to present her study at the annual World Federation of Chiropractic Conference in London, England. She is also the proud recipient of several research awards and grants. Through her research she has learned the importance of understanding how one’s mental health can impact their physical symptoms of pain and discomfort. Alongside her research, she pursues her second passion by teaching various courses at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College such as clinical education and anatomy labs.
When she is not working, teaching or doing her research, you can find her enjoying some long runs with her family and friends or going on hiking adventures.
